Weather Blog: Defrosting the Freezer – KSHB

February 19, 2021 by LPP Reporter

Good Friday bloggers,

It was around 530 PM on February 5th when the temperature dropped below freezing. This afternoon, around 3-4 PM, nearly 2 weeks to the hour, we should rise above freezing for the first time since the 5th.

What a stretch of weather this has been. There was snow on Galveston beach, the Lake of the Ozarks froze over for the first time in 10 years, there is ice on the trees in the Louisiana Bayou, there is an ice jam on the Missouri river near Jefferson City and Texas sadly turned into a mess.

The cold wave is over, but when you defrost a freezer it does not happen instantly, it takes several hours. On the larger scale, it is going to take a few days. It will be Monday when temperatures rise above average. We do have a small system to track this weekend as well.

The 2 minute video below details the snow part of the cold wave, the small system and the warmer days ahead. There is audio even though I am not visible.

Have a great weekend and stay healthy.
