Three Juveniles Arrested After North Iowa Vehicle, Foot Chase  – KCHA News

Three juveniles were arrested following foot and high-speed chases across north Iowa early Friday morning.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says the incident started shortly after 3:30 a.m. with a report of a stolen vehicle in the Elgin area being driven by minors out of Cedar Rapids.  Deputies observed the stolen vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Highway 18 near Rose Road west of West Union. While attempting to elude authorities, the stolen vehicle crashed into a creek and three juveniles, two males and one female, fled the car on foot.

One male juvenile occupant was apprehended after a foot chase at Highway 18 and W Avenue.  The female and other male juvenile walked to a residence on X Avenue, north of Highway 18 and stole a minivan at around 5 a.m. The stolen vehicle was later observed in Fredericksburg.

A Bremer County Sheriff’s Deputy observed the stolen minivan on Highway 63 southbound near Denver and attempted to stop the vehicle.  The driver again attempted to elude officers, but the chase ended when the vehicle crashed in a ditch southeast of Denver.  The occupants again fled on foot and after a search of the area by several agencies, the male and female juveniles were apprehended.

Juvenile referrals are pending on all three juvenile subjects. They face Fayette County charges including operating without owners consent, criminal mischief second degree, eluding, and interference with official acts.  Other charges are pending in Bremer County and Cedar Rapids.  This incident remains under investigation.
