St. Louis County lawmaker joins GOP primary for Missouri Auditor • Missouri Independent

State Rep. David Gregory has officially launched his campaign for Missouri auditor, joining state Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick in the Republican primary.

Gregory, a personal injury lawyer from St. Louis County, made his announcement in a video posted on YouTube this week.

In the video, he mentions his intention to fight against critical race theory, defunding the police, abortion, immigration and gun control, before closing by claiming the “woke left has gotten away with this for years. When I become auditor, they won’t get away with it anymore.”

In his last disclosure report filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission, Gregory reported having $106,000 cash on hand.

He’ll also benefit from a political action committee formed to support his candidacy. That PAC, called Show Me Growth PAC, reported having nearly $250,000 cash on hand in its latest report.

That includes a $200,000 donation from a St. Louis-based nonprofit called The Alliance for Economic Progress Inc.

Because it’s a nonprofit, it is not required to disclose where that money came from. The nonprofit’s president, Gregg Keller, is a longtime GOP operative who has worked with numerous so-called “dark money” nonprofits over the years.

Fitzpatrick, who joined the GOP primary last week, donated $250,000 to his campaign shortly before announcing his run.

Also rumored to be pondering a run for Auditor is House Speaker Rob Vescovo.
