Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal crash near Gretna

The single-vehicle crash happened just after 12:30 p.m.

June 5, 2021 5:12 pm

GRETNA, Neb. (KLKN) – One person was killed after a single-vehicle crash on Westridge Road in south Gretna on Saturday.

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office and Gretna Fire and Rescue responded to the crash just after 12:30 p.m. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup, 52-year-old Gretna resident Julia Wynkoop-Wiley, suffering serious injuries and began performing CPR.

The preliminary investigation revealed Wynkoop-Wiley was southbound on Westridge Road when she left the roadway at a curve and struck a tree. Wynkoop-Wiley was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

A medical helicopter transported Wynkoop-Wiley to Nebraska Medicine Trauma Center in Omaha. Wynkoop-Wiley was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival at the hospital.

This case is still under investigation by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office Crash Response Unit.
