Representative Dinkins Believes Rural Missouri should be Better Represented on Conservation Commission – My Moinfo

February 23, 2021 by LPP Reporter

(Jefferson City) A southeast Missouri lawmaker says Missouri’s Conservation Commission needs more rural representation and that commissioners should be elected.

State Representative Chris Dinkins of Annapolis has filed legislation that would increase the commission’s membership to nine nonpartisan members…one appointed by the governor and eight elected from each region of the state.

Dinkins has this to add.

The Conservation Commission’s four current members are Don Bedell of Sikeston, Barry Orscheln of Columbia, Mark McHenry of Kansas City and Steven Harrison of Rolla.

Commissioners are responsible for appointing the conservation director and serves as policy makers and approve wildlife code regulations.
