UPDATE 2: After further processing of the crime scene, police have determined the suspect’s injuries were not self inflicted.
“After further processing of the scene through the night and this morning New evidence supports the male’s injuries are not consistent with being self inflicted and violent crimes detectives are looking for other suspects that were involved in the original disturbance with shots fired.”
UPDATE: The man is now in custody at the hospital after sustaining a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head.
Negotiators made multiple attempts through a PA system and phone calls for the suspect to surrender but were unable to convince him.
Around 1 a.m. police obtained a search warrant and found the suspect in the basement with a self inflicted shot to the head. He was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) — Police in Kansas City are in a standoff with a man who fired a gun at a woman on Friday night.
Police were dispatched Friday around 7:15 p.m. to East 30th Terrace near Central High School after a woman said a man fired a gun in here direction during an argument.
She escaped the area and contacted police.
She told police the man was still inside the home and a tactical response team was called out.
Authorities are trying to bring the standoff to a peaceful conclusion.
