LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The parents of missing 23-year-old Carly Schaff addressed the media for the first time since their daughter disappeared, with a plea to the city of Lincoln and a message to their daughter.
“We just need your help to find our daughter,” Carly’s mother, Shari Schaff said. “If Carly is out there listening to this, I just want her to know how much our family loves her and how we just want her to come home, no matter what.”
Carly was last seen on May 17 at home as her parents were going to work.
Her family describes her as a homebody. They say it’s completely out of character for her to leave her two dogs, all of her belongings and computer behind.
Her mother shared some of the qualities that make Carly special.
“She’s funny, she’s very funny,” Schaff said. “She’s got a great sense of humor and she’s just a very caring person and she cares about people. She’s an animal lover and she’s just a great kid. She really is. This is just not like her to go this long.”
Carly had arranged to apply for jobs, but did not have a vehicle at the time of her disappearance.
Police say they need help from the community to piece together the timeline.
“We’ve exhausted a lot of means and interviewed a bunch of people,” LPD investigator Jessica Drager said. “But we still have questions that are unanswered. So we just need the community’s help at this point to help find Carly.”
Carly has gauges in her ears, a nose ring, black hair, and tattoos on her stomach, wrist and ankle.
She recently missed a court date, but police don’t believe that has anything to do with her disappearance.
“We have looked at that and, you know, there’s avenues we can take to prevent that from being the cause of her not coming forward,” Drager said.
LPD is unsure if Carly is in any physical danger at this time.
“That’s always a possibility,” Drager said. “We hope she’s not, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.”
LPD has a 24 hour dedicated tip line for those with information on Carly’s whereabouts.
