It was a little over a year ago Lisa Welter became administrator for the Chickasaw County Public Health and Home Care Services, just as the pandemic really took hold in Iowa.
Welter says while she felt she was prepared to lead the county in a time of crisis, no one could’ve predicted the magnitude of COVID-19’s impact.
Welter says she and her staff were definitely challenged by the pandemic, but no one ever considered bailing out.
Welter adds that when COVID vaccines were initially rolled out, it was tough turning people away when demand exceeded the supply of doses. She says now anyone who wants a COVID shot can get one.
