One civic project in Mitchell County and one in Howard County will each be receiving a $20,000 Empower Rural Iowa Grant.
The City of St. Ansgar will use their Rural Innovation Grant to add sound and lighting equipment for technical youth training at Cedar Summerstock Community Theater. It will cover over half of the project’s almost $33,000 estimated cost.
The City of Elma’s Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Committee will use their funds to help pay for the development of a community complex including childcare, health facilities, public library, and city offices. The total project will cost almost $1.2 million.
Other groups receiving the $20,000 grants include the City of Postville for community participation in their “Community Heart and Soul” planning efforts, and Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, including Allamakee and Clayton counties for the development of a “Reverse Scholarship Program” to attract rural teachers to the area.
