New LPS high school makes strides in construction of building

What was called a “topping ceremony” for Lincoln Northwest High School was held on Friday when the last beam was put into place.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A new Lincoln high school is starting to take shape!

What was called a “topping ceremony” for Lincoln Northwest High School was held on Friday as the last beam was put into place.

“We are right on track. We have a lot of positive energy under some very challenging times. So that’s a lot to be said for the team at work here,” said Liz Standish, Associate Superintendent of Businesses Affairs for Lincoln Public Schools.

The high school will be located near Northwest 48th and Holdrege. and officials say they are happy with how things are going.

“Pool opens in August of 2022. We’re in the process of laying the foundation for our wonderful building and for our community. There’s a lot of planning that goes into this. Right now we’re in the process of engaging our community partners and getting to know more about our community so that we can better serve the needs that we will have within our building and within our community,” said Cedric Cooper, the Principal of Lincoln Northwest High School.

The high school is scheduled to be opened in the fall of 2022.
