Gasoline carriers will have their hours of service restrictions waived
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Governor Pete Ricketts issued a new executive order on Thursday that will help address the gasoline supply shortage in the Midwest. The gasoline supply is short due to refineries closing for maintenance as they transition for winter.
Executive Order 21-10 will temporarily waive hours of service restrictions for carriers of gasoline and gasoline blends.
Drivers under this order will be allowed ten uninterrupted hours off-duty before returning to work when notifying their carrier that they need immediate rest. All drivers under this order will also need to carry a copy of the executive order.
This executive order is effective as of Thursday and will be effective through August 31, 2021.
