Nebraska Medicine updates visitor policy during COVID surge

Before you head to the hospital, check out these new rules

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska Medicine updated its visitor policies Monday in the wake of a COVID surge. It places restrictions on who can accompany patients and visit patients at all locations.

For outpatient visitors, up to two people can come with a patient. Children who are wearing masks can also come with a patient. Those patients must be screened at entry points, social distance, wear a mask, and follow proper hand cleaning hygiene.

In the emergency department, Nebraska Medical Center will no longer allow visitors to sit with adult patients in the waiting room.

One adult can be with children and two adults could be considered based on the severity of the illness or injury.

Patients with COVID-19, or those suspected of having COVID-19, can have one or two fully vaccinated visitors each day for up to two hours between 9 am and 6 pm 7 days a week. You’ll have to provide proof of vaccination and wear PPE while you are there.

Pediatric patients can have two healthy visitors at all times

Labor and delivery patients may have two healthy visitors at all times.

For a full list of restrictions and guidance, check out the Nebraska Medicine website.
