
After stealing from Scheels, police chased down suspects who had a lot more in their car than just stolen items

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- On March 10 at 5:11 p.m., at the Scheels on Pine Lake Road, police received a report that someone had stolen clothing, a wallet, and a Bluetooth speaker, altogether worth $600.
LPD says they were in the area for an unrelated matter when they got the report and saw the suspect get into a silver Chevrolet Malibu and leave.
Once the vehicle had parked in a nearby lot, investigators say they went up to the suspect, Thomas Baio, 27, and the driver, Priscilla Huff, 32.

Police say they could smell weed coming from the car and followed it up with a probable cause search where they found: the stolen items from Scheels, a syringe with residue that pre-tested positive for methamphetamine, two Alprazolam pills, two baggies containing a total of 122.9 grams of a substance that pretested positive for methamphetamine, a baggie containing a total of 5.7 grams of a substance that pretested positive for cocaine, a digital scale, and a loaded 9mm handgun reported stolen in the city of Lincoln on March 8, 2021.
Officers cited and lodged Huff for these offenses: Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (F-2 counts), Possession of a Stolen Firearm (F), Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (F), and Possession of a Firearm While Violating Controlled Substance Statute (F).
Officers cited and lodged Baio for the following offenses: Possession of Controlled Substance (F-2 counts), Shoplifting (3 counts—2 prior offenses involving Scheels), and Possession of Stolen Property (F).
