LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting a correctional officer.
Lincoln Police officers found the man – identified as 44-year-old Brad Geller – in the area of W. Mulberry St. and SW. 17th St. on Saturday.
Geller was taken into custody in a tree line without incident, police said.
Correctional officers told LPD that Geller had unknowingly flagged down correctional officers in an unmarked van who were looking for him.
Once Geller realized they were correctional officers, he struck one of them, jumped out of the van and fled before being arrested, police said.
Geller was lodged in Lancaster County Jail for assaulting an officer.
*Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified Geller as a current inmate. NDCS officials later clarified that another inmate had reported to corrections staff that Geller had jumped a fence at a correctional facility. NDCS said the staff did not know at the time whether Geller was an inmate or not.
