LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A former Nebraska Wesleyan was arrested after allegedly trashing an art studio on campus.
Court records show 38-year-old Benjamin Buras faces felony burglary and criminal mischief charges.
Wesleyan staff reported finding a broken window at Lucas Hall and an art studio inside with extensive damage.
Staff said paint had been thrown all over the room, damaging walls, windows, shades and artwork. They estimated the damage to be in excess of $8,000.
Buras was seen on video walking to the studio, investigators wrote in an arrest affidavit.
Police say a six pack of Busch Light was found at the scene, and that Buras had been seen purchasing the alcohol hours before the alleged burglary.
Investigators wrote NWU staff immediately suspected Buras because of an ongoing grievance he reportedly has with the university and the art department, where he was a student in 2014.
Buras is scheduled to appear in court next month.
