Lincoln family uses lemonade stand to fight pediatric cancer

Fighting childhood cancer, one glass of lemonade at a time.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Suckstorf family is using a lemonade stand, for the fifth year, to fight childhood cancer.

The family of six, along with some Husker players, set up in several spots around Lincoln this weekend. They sold lemonade, cookies and other goodies to raise money for cancer research and support those dealing with the disease.

The Suckstorf family raised over $4,000 dollars during the last 48 hours. In the past five years, the family has donated over $15,000 dollars to ‘Alex’s Lemonade Stand.’

‘Alex’s Lemonade Stand’ is something you may see all across the country. It started years ago with a young girl named Alex in Connecticut. At an early age, Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. At just 4-years-old, Alex started a lemonade stand in her front yard, fundraising for pediatric cancer. In little to no time, she raised over $2,000 dollars. By the time of her death in 2004, Alex raised about $1 million dollars and inspired a legacy across the country.

The Suckstorf’s say they plan on setting up ‘Alex’s Lemonade Stand’ again next year and for many years to come.

If you missed the lemonade stand but would like to donate to the cause, head to their website: https://www.alexslemonade.org/.
