LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln firefighters had a busy Fourth of July.
Lincoln Fire & Rescue officials say they responded to 96 calls from midnight to midnight on July 4.
On average, LFR responds to about 60 calls a day.
While there were a lot of calls, officials say many of them turned out to be minor.
“We lucked out on the major fires this year involving structures,” Fire Inspector Damon Robbins told Channel 8.
However, officials say homemade explosives were used to destroy several mailboxes and portable toilets.
A final tally of firework-related injuries may not be available for several days, but Bryan Health treated 24 people for firework-related injuries.
