Kansas City Royals hoping city will ‘Paint it Blue’ to celebrate Opening Day – KMBC Kansas City

Kansas City is turning blue — and it’s all to celebrate the return of baseball!The Kansas City Royals are starting what the team hopes will be a yearly tradition with “Paint it Blue.” The team shared the community initiative with a commercial showing players, and even Royals legend George Brett, painting their gear blue.The goal is to get Kansas City ready for opening day. “We are excited to welcome fans back to Kauffman Stadium, but we want fans all over the metro to celebrate Opening Day, too. That’s why I am thrilled about ‘Paint It Blue’ and what it will mean for our city,” said Senior Director, Community Investments & Executive Director of Royals Charities, Amanda Grosdidier. The team is asking businesses, schools and entertainment districts to “Paint it Blue” — wear your Royals attire, decorate your offices and your neighborhood, and more. On the Country Club Plaza, the iconic fountains will be dyed blue Monday, and the historic Plaza bunnies will don special Royals gear.Buildings downtown are even starting to turn blue for the season, which starts on Opening Day on Thursday. Special Royals flags will be installed in the Power & Light District Tuesday. “You don’t have to be in the stands at the ballpark to celebrate Opening Day with us,” Grosdidier said. “As Royals fans, we stand together, share our passion for the team together, and cheer together. Being a Royals fan is about connecting through our team, no matter where you are.”
