Jays basketball falls 50-45 at Warrensburg – Jefferson City News Tribune

WARRENSBURG — The Jefferson City Jays dropped a 50-45 decision Thursday in a back-and-forth battle against the Warrensburg Tigers.

Down 48-45 with :09.6 left, the Jays got the ball to the left wing for a a chance to tie it. But Warrensburg blocked the shot to hang on for the victory.

The Jays were ahead 13-10 at the end of the first quarter, but trailed 28-22 at halftime. Jefferson City took a 39-36 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Michael Onunkwor scored 13 points and Sterling DeSha finished with 12 for Jefferson City (9-13).

The final Central Missouri Activities Conference contest of the season is next for Jefferson City, which hosts Capital City today at Fleming Fieldhouse.

The JV game will start at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity beginning around 7 p.m.
