Helias Catholic principal accepts Boonville High School job – Jefferson City News Tribune

February 19, 2021 by LPP Reporter

Kenya Fuemmeler, current president and principal of Helias Catholic High School, has accepted the position of principal at Boonville High School, effective July 1.

Fuemmeler has served in many leadership roles in Central Missouri public and Catholic schools, including a tenure as interim superintendent of diocesan schools for the Catholic Diocese of Jefferson City during the 2019-20 school year while serving as Helias’ principal.

Fuemmeler was appointed Helias’ principal in 2015, the first female principal who was not a clergy member for the high school. She was appointed president and principal in 2020.

Fuemmeler indicated the new position will allow her to be closer to her family and provide her an opportunity to pursue personal interests, according to a news release from the Diocese of Jefferson City.

“The last six years have allowed me to grow professionally and spiritually,” Fuemmeler said in the news release. “I cannot thank Bishop McKnight enough for his support and encouragement.”

Bishop W. Shawn McKnight said he supports Fuemmeler’s decision to fulfill her hopes and dreams.

“I am personally indebted to Kenya for her witness to our faith, commitment to Catholic education, and her outstanding leadership during an important time of transition for our diocese,” McKnight said in the news release.

Erin Vader, diocesan superintendent of schools, will work with local leaders to ensure a smooth transition with a new leadership team. The positions of president and principal are expected to be filled by two different people, according to the news release.
