Some school zones are staying 25 mph, others are a bit slower. Which ones? Watch on to find out!
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department always makes a push at the start of the school year to keep students safe. That’s why they take a special interest in school zones. Of course, they always keep a watch on these areas, but the first few weeks get special treatment.
This year, however, there is a change to be aware of as you drive through school zones. As a matter of fact, there are five changes. There are five zones around Lincoln that are not 25 mph speed zones as usual. The streets around Rousseau Elementary, Humann Elementary, Dawes Middle, and St. Peter and St. Patrick Catholic Schools are all on a slightly slower 20 mph school zone speed limit.
The slower speed is indicated as it always is. The signs are clearly posted, and lights will flash to let you know when the reduced speed is in effect.
