LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- A local ice cream shop is reopening Thursday with a new look.

It’s been 2 years since a tornado destroyed C & L Dairy Sweet, a place that’s been in Lincoln for over 40 years.

“We are still here to support the community and serve because we heard everyone talking, they all wanted us back, so we just had to figure out what we wanted to do,” Manager at C & L Dairy Sweet, Cassey Hladik said.

The ice cream shop did not rebuild, instead they opened a trailer last year. This is the first year customers are able to see their new graphics and the new saying which is ‘same tradition, new generation.’

C & L Dairy Sweet is located in the same spot where the tornado went through in 2019, near West Van Dorn St. and South Coddington Ave.

Owner Tiffany Blackwell took over the business from her grandmother, Clarice “Hap” Loomis.

“Everyone knows it’s here, we would rather stay here and get the business that everyone is use to for 40 plus years and we are still the same old dairy sweet,” Blackwell said.

Blackwell says COVID brought on some struggles, just like it did for everyone else. However, it gave them the opportunity to spend more time on what they wanted this ice cream shop to look like moving forward.

C & L Dairy Sweet has added a couple new items to their menu, but you will still see their most popular ‘Billy Bar’ and lemon ice cream.
