JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) — A body was pulled from the Big River in Jefferson County Saturday, officials said.
The High Ridge Fire District said they were assisting deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff Office at Rockford Beach when a body was recovered from the Big River. The victim’s identity has not been released and the cause of death is still under investigation.
The sheriff’s office was searching for a missing Granite City, Illinois man who was at the beach with a group of friends Friday. Crews conducted an extensive search of the area but did not find him.
As of Thursday, there has been seven drowning and water-related death in the St. Louis region this month and the tenth so far this year.
