The Kansas City Police Department said Sunday one of its officers passed away after a battle with COVID-19.Out of respect for the family’s privacy, KCPD did not identify the officer, but a police spokesperson said he was “a dedicated officer who served our department for approximately 22 years and was assigned to the Patrol Bureau.”KCPD said the officer died on Sunday in the hospital.“Please keep the officer’s family and our department in your thoughts and prayers,” the spokesperson said.Related video: 5 p.m. Sunday COVID-19 update

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

The Kansas City Police Department said Sunday one of its officers passed away after a battle with COVID-19.

Out of respect for the family’s privacy, KCPD did not identify the officer, but a police spokesperson said he was “a dedicated officer who served our department for approximately 22 years and was assigned to the Patrol Bureau.”
